Quality tour experiences....

Intrepid Tours is based in Brunei and specialises in quality tour experiences for couples, families, small groups, schools and corporate groups.

Our office is located in the centre of Bandar Seri Begawan, on the first floor of the Malay Teachers Association building, a few minutes walk from Brunei and Radisson Hotels, opposite the Tamu (market), and five minutes walk to the jetty where covered water taxis depart to Borneo's best protected pristine rainforest – Ulu Temburong National Park.

Brunei is a unique destination that combines modern services with Malay family values, traditional lifestyles, Islamic religion, a worldly perspective along with the freedoms generated by a benevolent family monarchy and the distribution of income from its oil and gas resources. This creates a society that is the envy of many and a surprise for visitors.

Intrepid's tours in Brunei range from short two hour trips to see Borneo's famous Proboscis Monkeys – just along from the Sultan's palace – to multi-day programmes that immerse guests in the amazing cultural and natural heritage. The contrasting experiences available within short distances in Brunei ensure that visitors find their stay rewarding and enjoyable; there is something new to experience and learn each day.

Like many destinations, you can enjoy Brunei by simply walking around the town area, taking a bus ride to see the urban and rural environment, or catching a water taxi for a whiz around the water village. But if you want to understand what you see, we recommend taking some of our tours.

Intrepid has been developing tours and operating travel experiences in Brunei and adjacent Sabah and Sarawak since the mid 1990's, when our Managing Director – Allan Riches – pioneered the development of eco-tourism programmes in Brunei's Ulu Temburong National Park, while establishing the Outward Bound centre. His qualifications as an educator and experience with adventure based wilderness travel combine to create fun and informative tours with the underpinning safety systems you'd expect.

In Bandar Seri Begawan our tours give visitors an understanding of what makes Brunei such a unique nation. Whether viewing the displays in the Royal Regalia (Brunei's version of the Tower of London), donning an academic gown to enter the magnificent Mosques, enjoying local cakes and tea in a water village home, standing at the gates of His Majesty's palace, or taking a boat ride to see the nearby Proboscis Monkeys, your Intrepid guide will give you an insight into the culture, history and governance which combine to create Brunei's uniquely attractive qualities.

If you have special interests – such as bird-watching, wildlife or flora – we can develop a tailor-made programme. Our day tours into other areas of Brunei often provide the basis for special interest programmes. Staying in a longhouse, sunset boat rides, walking trails and interpretation centres can be combined to create the desired experience.

If particular activities are in your “to-do” list, let us know. Sailing, fishing, boating, island picnics, diving, snorkelling and other water based activities are available from Brunei.

And if your time allows, Brunei can be your hub for excursions into adjacent Sabah and Sarawak. For example to Mulu caves, where a 2d/1n hike/longboat/vehicle journey links you to Temburong National Park. Or take a ferry across Brunei Bay to duty free Labuan; the site of the Commonwealth War Graves for Borneo. Or travel by vehicle from Temburong up the Crocker Range to the magnificent agriculture park, a spectacular train ride along the Padas Gorge, or to enjoy tropical island life, relaxing at the venue of the UK's first Survivor TV programmes.

Brunei also has excellent golf courses within a short drive of central Bandar Seri Begawan. These can be combined with courses in adjacent Sabah and Sarawak to create a truly Borneo golfing experience, ranging from the first golf course on Borneo, to the challenge of the course designed for His Majesty the Sultan Of Brunei - know as the “Augusta of Asia” - and Borneo's highest golf course.

For more information on available tours and multi-day programmes, please use the contact information at the top of this page, or link to our website to see more details and submit our enquiry form for an email response.

Intrepid Tours will help make Brunei and its hinterland come alive for your visit to Borneo. Join us for some travel adventure in Borneo; to relax, learn, enjoy, indulge, challenge, inspire and have fun.
